General

With just under 330,000 inhabitants, Graz is the capital of Styria and the second largest city in Austria. Every sixth inhabitant is a student. Karl-Franzens-Universität, colloquially also simply titled „Uni Graz“, counts a proud 32,000 students (as of December 2020).

Austria's second largest city is rich in history and at the same time a city full of modern life.

In the center of the inner city (old town) lies the castle Schlossberg. It is a massive dolomitic rock and forms the core of the historic old town of Graz. The Schlossberg is located directly on the banks of the Mur and towers 123 meters above the main square of Graz.

In addition to the comprehensive university offers, the old town of Graz, the castle Eggenberg (both UNESCO World Heritage Site), attract attractive leisure activities and Mediterranean flair.

If you want to study in a pleasant large metropolis with incredible Austrian cuisine, Graz is the place for you. The unique charm of the city attracts more and more young people.

The Dorm

The “UNIBLICK Graz” student dormitory is located directly opposite the Karl-Franzens University Graz.

Thanks to its central location, the student residence is particularly attractive for successful and socially sociable studies:

The student dormitory houses four residential units with a total of nine single rooms. It offers many amenities in the immediate vicinity:

  • Parking for bicycles and single-track vehicles right in front of the front door
  • Perfect connections to all universities and technical colleges in Graz thanks to the “Uni / Mensa” stop and a taxi stand right outside the front door (bus routes 31, 39, 41, 63)
  • Supermarket right on the doorstep (open until 8:00 p.m.)
  • Bakers right on the doorstep (open Mon to Sun)
  • Banks, bank note machines, a butcher and a cobbler, tailors, hairdressers, copy shops, university bookshops, paper shops, tobacconists, bars, cafes, discos, dance schools, inns, an English pub, pizzerias, international and vegan cuisine, a health food store and a Pharmacy, farmers' markets, the university cafeteria, the Leechkirche, the Geidorf cinema, the Graz city park, the Schloßberg and the old town of Graz are in the immediate vicinity

In our student residence „UNIBLICK Graz“ (dorm) directly at the university campus you expect very bright and friendly rooms in which you will feel comfortable.

In your home, you can design your living space and enjoy the great view towards the university, towards Schloßberg or into the countryside.

Unfortunately, our rooms are not barrier-free due to the old building. All rooms are located on the 2nd floor.

The prices

The usage fee is extremely cheap EUR 230.00 per room and month (as of December 2020).

The usage fee also includes electricity, heating, operating costs, internet and 10% VAT.

  • For first-time registrations, one-time administration costs of EUR 50.00 have to be paid.
  • A deposit of EUR 300.00 is required for the first occupancy.
  • The amount of the maintenance fee is EUR 50.00 p.a. and is collected for 3 years (EUR 150.00). If you move out earlier, this will of course be reimbursed proportionally.

The prices are evaluated annually and redefined at the beginning of the academic year (winter semester).

The student residence year begins on September 1st. of each year and ends on August 31. of the following year; According to Section 12 Paragraph 3 StudHG, the winter semester ends at the end of February and the summer semester at the end of July.

In principle, admission takes place on September 1st. of the calendar year. The usage contract is concluded for 12 months. You will then need to apply for an extension.

According to § 5a Paragraph 5 StudHG, usage contracts can also be concluded for a shorter period of time. According to § 5a Abs 2 StudHG, first-year students are instructed that they have the right to conclude the user contract for 24 months.

The guest place

The usage fee for short stays in the student dormitory is EUR 25,00 per guest and overnight stay (stand December 2020).

The usage fee includes:

Short stays are only available if available - usually during the summer months. The usage fee does not include bed linen and towels.
